Our annual coach trip to Wicksteed Park is always a highlight of the summer – and this year was no exception!
Two full coaches of children and their families joined us for a day of adventure, laughter, and connection — and it didn’t disappoint.
From the moment we left Arbury, the coaches were buzzing with excitement. Families explored the rides, shared picnics, and made memories together, all with the reassurance that Red Hen support was quietly available in the background if needed. It was a chance for families to relax, have fun, and simply enjoy being together.
For some children, this may have been their only trip outside of Cambridge this year — and that’s exactly why we do it. These experiences offer more than just a day out; they help build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create moments of joy that last far beyond the summer.
Trips like this also help children feel more settled and ready to learn when they return to school in September. After a positive shared experience, children often come back feeling more confident and connected — with stories to tell, friendships renewed, and a sense of belonging that helps ease the transition into a new school year.
We’re incredibly grateful to Cambridge City Council for their support in making this trip — and our wider programme of school holiday activities — possible.
If you, your business, or your community group would like to help us provide future trips or activities, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch: givesupport@redhenproject.org
